A man has been arrested near Skedsmovollen at E6 after – what police described as – a shorter car chase on Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect allegedly fled after starting the fire.

– Police have arrested a man in his 30s after a shorter vehicle chase. The man is suspected of starting the previously mentioned fire, the East police district wrote on Twitter.

Only after setting up barriers at E6 did the police manage to stop the alleged arsonist. In attempting to escape, the man is said to have collided with another car at E6, but no one was injured in the incident.

The police had to stop all traffic on E6 to catch the man.

Check out the arrest video at the bottom of the case.

– We have strays away from the street, said operations manager Gisle Sveen in the East police district VG.

Video and photos accessed by TV 2 show several police officers laying the man on the ground, and in which it is clear the man resisted during the arrest.

The eastern police district reported at 5:20 p.m. a fire broke out in a terraced house in the municipality of Nannestad, where a witness is said to have observed that the man set the building on fire.

– Whereas the witness who came to us gave a good description of both the person’s clothing and the car, so we quickly became convinced that we were behind the car in question. Those suspicions were further strengthened when a petrol can was thrown from the vehicle at E16, Sveen said Romeriks Blad.

By 6:03 p.m. the fire department should have controlled the fire.

– The fire was put out about 30 minutes after we arrived at the scene. It’s not a big fire, but has the potential to be one. There are many housing units in the chain at the site, said supervisor Roger Andersen VG.
