Environmentalists were arrested over a noisy protest in front of the British Prime Minister’s house

Sixteen protesters from climate activist group Just Stop Oil were arrested after holding a rowdy protest outside Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s home in west London, Police reported today.

Activists, carrying banners and banging pots and pans, voiced their opposition to the Conservative prime minister’s decision to grant 100 new oil and gas permits in the North Sea.

The Metropolitan Police said that 16 people were arrested and taken to various police stations. from central London for the protest, which came as Sunak prepared to travel to the COP28 climate change conference in Dubai.

The posters carried by the protesters contained messages about COP28, such as “CoP failure = crop failure” and “There will be no rest for evil doers” who are polluting the planet.

“Residents whose houses were flooded couldn’t sleep. Hungry children cannot sleep. “People facing forest fires can’t sleep,” said Pia Bastide, 29, a protester.

“So why should climate villains like Rishi Sunak sleep well at night?” he added, saying that the prime minister jailed teenagers for protesting, without ever being punished for anything.

“The Metropolitan Police must target the real criminals, like Rishi Sunak and all the oil barons who struck a dirty deal at COP28“, he has stated.

Activism and licensing

The Just Stop Oil group highlighted their strong opposition to the Prime Minister’s policy and called for the immediate suspension of all future fossil fuel exploration permits in the UK.

“Rishi Sunak has He ignored the promises he made to his own children on climate; should have listened to them,” added a Just Stop Oil spokesperson.
