Finn Sjue – I have Alzheimer’s

The AKP politician and psychologist from Vestfold was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a few weeks ago, he told Klassekampen.

Sjue was the top organizer of the ML movement for many years and was the editor of Klassekampen from 1973 to 1977. He then worked as a journalist for the newspaper until the late 90’s. He later worked as a writer and senior lecturer in journalism at Oslo University College.

He said he wanted to contribute to greater transparency about dementia diseases like Alzheimer’s.

– This is also a problem of society because it is a disease with a large burden. I have been a public figure for decades and, among other things, have been involved in training a large cohort of journalists. Because it’s an important part of my project to gain greater transparency about hidden conditions, I can contribute my piece on diseases that are too much hidden, said Sjue.

– If by telling my story I can contribute to warding off the shame in others who suffer from dementia, then that goal has largely been achieved, he further said.
