Emergency services went out Saturday afternoon to the burning sheep shed at Vågå in Innlandet.

Firefighters arrived on the scene just after 12, confirmed Central 110 in Innlandet to TV 2.

The operations manager for all fire departments in Otterdalen, Atle Festervoll, told TV 2 that this was a major fire and major extinguishing work was underway.

– Everything was on fire and the barn was on fire when we were told, said Festervoll, who added that the surrounding area looked very dry.

There should be no risk of spread to the ground or other buildings, and no one was in the warehouse, according to the police and fire services.

Around 12.30pm, there were no reports of any major blazes in the area, but there was a lot of smoke in the area.

The police reported that there must have been several hundred animals in the barn.

Innlandet police district manager, Andreas Ulshagen Jorde, told TV 2 at 12:45 p.m. that the fire must be brought under control, but work remains to be done to extinguish it.

– The stables burned down completely, and quite a lot of sheep were burned in them. We don’t have an idea of ​​the total number yet. A number of animals have been rescued, said Ulshagen Jorde.
