Flood warning in England

The British Met Office, which corresponds with the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, has issued three yellow danger warnings for rain through Friday. England will experience heavy rain over the next 24 hours.

Along the coast it will explode and there is a risk of flooding in large parts of the country.

The Met Office warned of possible damage to buildings and traffic flow problems due to the mass of water.

Traffic problem

The first alert is for the region in the southeast and lasts until six o’clock this morning. The Daily Echo reports on traffic chaos due to flooding in Southampton where, among other things, a roundabout was flooded.

Currently most dramatic in West Sussex in south-east England. The BBC reported that several rail lines were affected by flooding on Thursday afternoon. The local fire service is asking motorists to stay off the road unless absolutely necessary.

The second warning is in effect for 24 hours from midnight on Thursday. The area it covers stretches along the east coast from Birmingham in the south to the Scottish border. Rainy weather will hit major cities such as Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester.

Precipitation up to 100 millimeters

From 15:00 today until 18:00 tomorrow, rain will intensify along the east coast of Scotland as far north as the area around Aberdeen. Between 80 and 100 millimeters of rain will fall in the area over the next 24 hours.

Flood warnings have also been issued for these areas.

Eldbjørg Moxnes at the Meteorological Institute said that there is low pressure from the southwest persisting over most of the country.

– It will rain a lot today, but it will be weak all day tomorrow. The storm subsided first in the south and lasted longer in the north.

According to him, we don’t need to worry about rainy weather in Norway.

– The low pressure remains in England and is not passing as we often see. This is due to a cold air mass from Russia keeping its distance so it dies over Great Britain and doesn’t reach Norway.
