Global Exchange increased its turnover by 160% to 217 million

Global Exchange approved its general account for 2022 confirming a record year for the Spanish entity. With this account, multinationals are dedicated to currency exchange at international airports in 23 countries, confirm a recovery in international tourism that places the entity at pre-pandemic levels of activity and output. The Group closed 2022 with a turnover of 217.33 million euros (160% higher than in 2021) and an EBITDA (financial indicator that shows a company’s profit without reducing interest payable on debt) of 52 million, which far exceeds that of 2020 and 2021 .

As far as the volume of operations is concerned, the growth was 215% and resulted in a figure of 1,800 million euros last year. In turn, the company serves 9.3 million customers, more than 165% compared to 2021. “The figure denotes the size of a company that is dedicated to continuously growing in business and profits. Our goal is to maintain and incorporate new services related to technological innovation, responding to the needs of international travelers and acting in accordance with our hallmarks of excellence”, said President and CEO of Global Exchange Group, Isidoro J. Alanís.

Growth

In addition to the increase in economic figures, there has also been a growth in the number of offices, airports and employees. Global Exchange has 346 offices opened in 64 airports, in addition to other places frequented by tourists. Regarding employees, multinational companies closed 2022 with 1,945 employees, 39% more than in 2021%. The numbers don’t stop there, because according to the company itself in a press release, as of March 31, it had 2,184 staff.

Among the major openings in 2022, exchange offices in France (Charles de Gaulle airport, Gare de l`Est and Bordeaux train stations), six offices in Chilli (Santiago de Chile airport’s new terminal 2), great Britain (two offices at Eurostars station, three at Bristol airport, one in London City, offices at Oxford Street and Earls Court), Colombia (offices at Medellín airport and Cartagena Cruise Port), Spanish (road offices in Palma de Mallorca airport, Granada, Valencia, Barcelona and Madrid, Barcelona, ​​​​​​Alicante and Malaga), Mexico (three openings in the RIU hotel) and Brazil (three offices at Salvador de Bahía airport).

In addition, the company highlighted the reopening of existing offices in pre-pandemic times, the renewal of management contracts for most airports.

More services

One of the major advances in Global Exchange activity is awarding of public contracts for the management of VAT refunds or Tax Free refunds for non-EU tourists at airport locations. In 2022, the operator opened eight offices at Madrid and Barcelona airports (four in each city) and won tenders at the end of the year to provide this service at Alicante-Elche and Málaga-Costa del Sol airports, opening two offices in 2023 in space- this space. The company is responsible for managing 90% of the volume of this service in all Spanish airports.

The company also offers citizens living in Spain the service of buying and selling foreign currency at home thanks to an agreement the company reached last November with the Post Office. With this collaboration, customers can order in more than 80 currencies across Correos’ national network or ask for it from a rural postman. Applicants receive it conveniently at their home address or post office within 48-72 hours.
