How to give birth, does not exist in the United States

The United States leads in many areas, including technology, pharmaceuticals, and medicine, but it can’t reach everyone with healthcare.

Federal figures for 2021 just released show that it was the worst year in US history for maternal deaths. More than 1,200 pregnant women died there in childbirth or up to 42 days after giving birth. That’s 40 percent. more than the previous year, the most in 60 years, and more than ten times that of other developed countries such as Australia, Austria, Israel, Japan, Spain. The Wall Street Journal described the US as “the most dangerous country for rich people to have children”.

Maternal mortality is increasing across all age groups and demographics in 2021, with black American women twice as many as white women.

The World Health Organization estimates that the average maternal mortality rate in rich countries is 12 per 100,000, while in poor countries it is 430 per 100,000. Two or three pregnant women die per 100,000, in France, UK and Canada 10-11. The United States is far from the norm, with nearly 33 women per 100,000. In addition, between 2000 and 2020 in these countries, the maternal mortality rate decreased, and in the Americas it increased by 78%.

“The United States is not doing well in this comparison. But there’s no reason for the situation to be so bad, said Donna Hoyert, an expert at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the National Center for Health Statistics, in an interview with NPR radio. It turns out 84 percent. These pregnancy-related deaths are preventable.
