Iran.- Iran defended its actions in response to the IAEA and criticized “excessive demands” in talks in Vienna

The government denounced Grossi “meeting the wrong people at the wrong time and place” during his visit to Israel

MADRID, June 13 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hosein Amirabdolahian, defended Tehran’s decision this Monday to install new centrifuges and remove cameras from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) following last week’s condemnation resolution, while criticizing “excessive demands” made by the international community.

“Every time the other side has made excessive demands (during the talks in Vienna to revive the 2015 nuclear deal), we have used the country’s tools and power to make them understand that the interests and welfare of the Iranian nation are important. us and that we will maintain our efforts for that goal,” he said, as reported by Iran’s Press TV television network.

As such, he insisted that the Iranian authorities “have offered initiatives and ideas on a logical basis when they have been logically dealt with by the other side”, while indicating his willingness for the parties to continue negotiations to reactivate the nuclear power agreement, as long as “the rights countries are protected at the international level”.

In this regard, the spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Said Jatibzadé, has criticized the “political and unethical” position of the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, following his official trip to Israel days before the vote for the resolution — which was submitted by the United States. United States, France, England and Germany– by the Board of Governors of international organizations.

Jatibzadé has stressed that the resolution is “totally political and pre-designed” to influence cooperation between Tehran and the IAEA and lamented that Grossi “has allowed the Zionist regime, in violation of the law, to mock the structure of the IAEA”, as reported by Iranian news agencies. Tasnim.

“I think the message of the trip was as clear as any other non-diplomatic move,” he said. “The director general (IAEA) must pay attention to impartiality and independence. According to the agency’s laws, he met the wrong person at the wrong time and in the wrong place,” he argued.

On the other hand, he reiterated that the decisions taken by Tehran after the resolution were “firm and proportionate” and added that the authorities had stopped all their “voluntary” actions outside the safeguards agreement, according to Iran’s Mehr agency. To that end, he asked the IAEA to focus on countries that are not part of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, referring to Israel.

Iranian authorities announced on Friday that they had started injecting gas into new centrifuges installed as part of their nuclear program, a move announced following a resolution approved by the IAEA criticizing Tehran for not providing explanations about traces of uranium detected in the three countries. previously. undeclared enclave. Just a day earlier, Tehran notified the removal of 27 security cameras.

Iran has announced its withdrawal of its commitments at several points from the 2015 nuclear deal after the United States unilaterally left the pact in 2018, although Iranian authorities have defended that these steps could be reversed if the United States withdraws sanctions and reinstates them. for a deal.
