Hospital water has been restored after a major water leak at Levanger on Saturday morning. Where the leak occurred is still unknown.

Communications adviser Berit Røflo confirmed to NTB that the hospital was running out of water.

– As far as we know there is a water leak in the municipality of Levanger. We are working on finding a backup solution, but the positive is that no major activity is planned here today, says Røflo.

At 09.00, Mayor Anita Pasir (Sp) was able to say that the hospital had returned to supplying water.

“We don’t know how many people have been affected by the water leak, but the most important thing is that the hospital has got the water back,” he told NTB.

Before Trønder-Avisa who first reported the water leak, which will affect residents in the Bamberg and Gjumble areas.

The Municipality of Levanger wrote in a text message to residents of the area, who left at 6:17 a.m. on Saturday morning:

“A search is underway for a major water leak in the power line. All of Bamberg and Gjumble are currently without water. Crews are now out searching. Not sure when water will return. Water tanks will run out if repairs take too long.”

The technical custodian at the municipality, Per Kåre Brenne, told Trønder-Avisa just before 8:30 a.m. that the fault was in the middle of Levanger, but that they had yet to find the exact position of the leak.

– We are in the process of sealing off certain zones in order to localize such leaks, explains Brenne.

Six people are looking for a leak, but Brenne asked the public to call if they see water collecting in places. (NTB)
