Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced a new trade partnership with the United Kingdom, during his visit to the Jacksonville Port Authority (JaxPort) where more ships, with a greater variety of merchandise, will arrive in the state from the United Kingdom.

The UK is Florida’s “major global investor” with total holdings of $18 billion in the state, and is the state’s main bilateral trading partner worldwide, with “strong tourism links” and “huge potential” to expand commercial ties further through the MOU, DeSantis pointed out.

The state’s leaders said that Florida receives more than a million British tourists throughout the year. Meanwhile, Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan, who recently visited the European city, has held talks about allowing direct flights.
