Morten Sandøy: – It was completely wrong before broadcast

Morten Sandøy (58) has been watching TV 2 for 30 years. Over the years, she’s been breaking news for the channel, but she’s also gotten up in the morning to host the “Good morning Norway” show.

Via the TV route, Norwegians can watch Sandøy from various angles. The coverage of terror and “twerking” on national TV is just some of what the TV profile has started – and received praise for.

TV glitch: – Kinda embarrassing

However, that’s not all viewers get. Behind the scenes, unexpected events happen all the time, but Sandøy’s history might stand out a bit.

Dirt from head to toe

In front of Television 2 can the 58-year-old tell about an incident that happened just before he was supposed to read the 21st news. Before the broadcast, he had had dinner, and felt at peace and no danger when he suddenly started breaking out in a cold sweat.

– I suddenly felt something was wrong, he told the channel.

Sandøy then realized that he had to find a toilet. It quickly became clear that it was urgent.

– got the pants in the middle of the thigh, and it just says bang. There I stood, dirt from my neck to my shoes, thinking: “What do I do now?”, he said.

At that time, the broadcast wasn’t long, so the news anchor had to think fast. Sandøy said that he took off his clothes and threw away whatever had to be thrown away. He then managed to sneak out, got a new suit and jumped into the bathroom.

– But I have no panties, so there I sit at 21-Nyheten with no panties and no socks in my shoes, he told the channel.

Dagbladet has been in contact with Sandøy, who has said nothing more about the incident.

Be open about mental health

Most Norwegians are probably most used to seeing Sandøy cover the news. However, in 2016, he took a step out of the news studio and into “Good morning Norway”. There you can see the funny Sandøy, who is also not afraid to show good humor in the news studio.

However, life in Sandøy is not just a good mood and good days. This summer he lost his sister to cancer, more than two years after the disease was discovered.

Illness in the family combined with the pandemic makes things difficult to deal with. Part of the solution for Sandøy was a conversation with a psychologist.

– I was always skeptical about such things, but now I believe that more people should talk to a psychologist, he said VG.
