New British Chargé d’Affaires appointed for Venezuela

Dick will take up his role starting this month, replacing Becks Buckingham, who has served as interim charge d’affaires since August 2021.

The official, who has held diplomatic positions since 1990, was commissioner for Barbados and the Caribbean between 2013 and 2017. He also served as head of department and director in charge of the UK’s Exiting the European Union Department from 2017 to 2019 and served as director in charge of the Cabinet Office that country.

In addition, Dick has served at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in London, including as private secretary to the FCDO minister. He was stationed in Singapore, Brazil and Barbados, where he served as deputy high commissioner and later chargé d’affaires.
