When Duchess Kate and Prince William come to Norway, meeting people, and children are no exception, is a big deal.

Media people, security officials, police and organizers will mob the royals during next week’s visit. Even so, the police promised to hold a meeting with the community.

The logistics surrounding the visit have been carefully planned, so there will be a chance for everyone to see the royals too, said the person in charge of NTB’s Oslo district police. The best opportunity is probably during the tour of the Princess Ingrid Alexandra Sculpture Garden after lunch on Thursday.

– It’s great to have people come, says assistant communications manager Sven Gjeruldsen at Castle to NTB.

According to police, the goal is for the public to have the opportunity to attend most of the outdoor program locations and even get closer to the main characters. Apart from that, the police have planned security so that it does not become a major obstacle to public traffic and normal traffic.

Interest

This program was prepared at the request of the Duke and Duchess and concerns the interests of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. MESH’s founding community, with 1,000 members and ties to London, is one of the places visited.

– It will be very pleasant to create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere and at the same time follow a program whose time is set to seconds. There probably won’t be much wiggle room for jokes, founder Anders Mjåset told NTB.

He started MESH as the first innovation house for entrepreneurs in Norway in 2012.

– Innovation and entrepreneurship are at the top of the agenda for the crown prince couple and Norway in general. The start-up community considers the crown prince in particular a true supporter. For us personally, it is very exciting to be selected, especially as it illustrates the development we have experienced. It was completely unthinkable that an official royal visit would be paid to us five or six years ago. Now we are relevant and important, says Mjåset.

Mental health

At the request of the guests, there will also be a visit to the Hartvig Nissen school and a meeting with the actors of the TV series Skam Friday. The ducal couple and crown prince couple have a shared commitment to mental health, children and young people, and the British side will talk to school students about the importance of Skam in highlighting taboos in today’s society, such as identity issues, bullying, sexual harassment and eating disorders.

The final item on the program was a trip to Holmenkollen to see how Norwegians cope with outdoor activities in sub-zero temperatures, which is not the British forte. Features include a ski school for children, grilling sausages over a fire, a lavvo visit and a trip to the peak of Holmenkollbakken.

– No other country has won more medals at the Winter Olympics than Norway, and although excitement is building ahead of the Games in South Korea, Her Majesty hopes to learn more about how Norway maintains this record, she said in British Royal House website.

It all happened with possibly more than 100 journalists involved: When the application deadline ended on Wednesday, there were 37 British journalists and 107 journalists from Norway and around the world on the list.
