The conflict in the thoracic surgery department at Ullevål Hospital is escalating.

A signature campaign has now been launched demanding the resignation of clinic manager Bjørn Bendz and department manager Arnt Fiane.

– The trust of those on the management floor is no longer flimsy, it’s simply non-existent. They have failed miserably at looking after their own employees, and do not understand the stress and psychosocial stress that results from total uncertainty about rotations, summer operations and work locations, the campaign said.

The petition was created by a “desperate and tired nurse”.

Stine Molvær Nesseth is a shopkeeper for intensive care nurses. He told TV 2 that none of the shop assistants or safety representatives in the department were notified of or involved in this campaign.

– As a representative of the Norwegian Nurses’ Association, I distance myself from this work. However, I believe it is important that all employees are respected and that they have freedom of expression.

As of Sunday evening, the campaign had received more than 200 signatures.

TV 2 mentioned several times that 16 out of 24 intensive care nurses had resigned in protest against management.

Recently, it was decided to move all heart surgery plans from Ullevål to Rikshospitalet. This decision met strong opposition from employees.

Before VG who first mentioned the petition.

Special counsel at OUS, Ivar Greiner, told the newspaper they did not wish to comment on the case.
