Tako: this is the AI ​​chatbot that TikTok brings

The bot is currently in limited testing in select markets, where it will appear on the right side of the TikTok interface, above the user’s profile and other buttons for likes, comments and bookmarks. When tapped, users can ask Tako various questions about the video using natural language questions or discover new content by asking for recommendations.

For example, when viewing a video of King Carlos’ coronation, Tako might suggest that the user ask “What does the coronation of King Carlos III mean?”

Or, if the user is looking for ideas on something to watch, they can ask Tako to suggest some videos on a specific topic, such as cute pet videos. The bot will respond with a list of results that includes the video’s name, author, and subject, as well as links to suggested videos. From here, you can click on the video thumbnail to be redirected to the content.

The bot was found to be being publicly tested by an application intelligence company alert.aiand TikTok confirmed that the test is now underway.

During the initial launch, TikTok notified users via a pop-up message that Tako was still considered “experimental” and that its comments “may not be true or accurate”.
