The British designer marked the fashion at the coronation of Carlos III

Alongside the uniforms and clothing steeped in history, which was important in Carlos III’s coronation, Queen Camila and Princess of Wales on Saturday opted for the British designer, who Letizia of Spain also winked the day before.

The British queen’s dress was made by Bruce Oldfield, a 72-year-old creator who has made many outfits for Camila.

But Oldfield’s choice took Britain by surprise, as he rose to prominence decades ago thanks to Princess Diana, Charles’ first wife.

In the 1980s he designed dozens of evening gowns for her, including some of the most famous and glamorous princesses, who died in 1997 in a traffic accident in Paris.

Camila’s ivory dress combined silver and gold in a simple cut and was embroidered with a print of English wildflowers.

It was made in Peau de Soie, a silk fabric with a shimmering finish, woven by Stephen Walters in the English city of Suffolk, Buckingham Palace reported.

Meanwhile, Catalina, wife of heir to the throne William, wore a striking outfit in the colors of the British flag, as she covered her ivory dress with a Royal Victorian Order coat.

The suit was designed by the firm of Alexander McQueen, which had made his wedding dress in 2011.

The Princess of Wales wore an ivory silk crepe embroidered with silver thread and a motif of roses, thistles, daffodils and shamrocks.

She also wore a silver, crystal and silver thread headdress, embroidered in a three-dimensional leaf shape, created by Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen. And she was wearing Diana’s pearl and diamond earrings.

Carlota, Guillermo and Catalina’s eight-year-old daughter, also wore an Alexander McQueen gown and cape.

Among the guests, Queen of Spain Letizia wore a bright pink two-piece ensemble by Venezuelan-American designer Carolina Herrera.

The bottom ruffled jacket and calf length skirt are made in a grain weave. She accompanied them in pale pink gloves and a headdress created by designer Isabel Terroso for the Madrid company Balel Lyuxury Hats.

In a nod to the British designer, Letizia wore the night before, to a reception at Buckingham Palace the day before the coronation, a gown by Victoria Beckham, former Spice Girl pop group singer turned fashion designer.

Letizia teamed a below-the-knee parrot green dress with a gathered waist with a black handbag, bow-shaped brooch and large earrings.

“What a great honor to dress the Queen of Spain who is always so elegant in one of my gowns!!! She is spectacular!!!”, Beckham wrote on Instagram in Spanish.

The coronation also gave work to Britain’s oldest repair shop.

Charles III’s coronation robes, for example, were made by Ede and Ravenscroft, who are known to be London’s oldest tailors, being over 330 years old.

The workshop has dressed for every British coronation since King William and Mary in 1689, according to Buckingham Palace.
