The Secretary of Justice, Juan Martín Mena, participated in the launch of the “Forty Years Agenda of Malvinas”, a virtual platform showing the program of activities that will be deployed in Argentina and around the world to spread the legitimate and indelible dispute over our country’s sovereignty over the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands and related maritime and archipelagic spaces, because they are an integral part of the national territory; and to honor those who died in war and recognize former combatants.

The purpose of the Agenda presented is to promote action to achieve restoration of the exercise of the sovereignty of the islands through international law, with an emphasis on diplomatic action through all Argentine embassies, both in international organizations and in other countries. , to urge Britain to resume dialogue.

“When the President instructed the formation of the Malvinas national council, different political forces in the country joined and participated in Malvinas’ 40-year agenda, all political parties were there,” he added.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Jorge Taiana stated: “This January 3rd is a very important commemoration because it is part of the 40 years of the Malvinas conflict and the sacrifices of our heroes who gave their lives in defense of sovereignty, which we remember and will remember. today and forever. At the same time, their sacrifice strengthens our commitment to an unshakable claim in accordance with the principles of international law for the effective exercise of sovereignty.”

The event, held at the Malvinas Museum, to commemorate the 189th anniversary of the illegal occupation of the islands, was attended by the Minister of Defence, Jorge Taiana, Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti; the secretary of Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic, Guillermo Carmona; Foreign Relations, Pablo Tettamanti; the head of the White Helmets, Sabina Frederic, together with members of the inter-ministerial desk “Malvinas 40 Years”; representatives of combatants and their relatives killed on the islands; university references; members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Argentina, legislators and authorities of the Armed Forces.
