Police in Trondheim received criticism, after four demonstrators from “Stop oil exploration” were wrongfully searched in a detention center last summer.

Climate activists believe they were subjected to an illegal body search in a cell at the Sentrum police station in Trondheim, after they blocked car traffic in the capital Trondheim, reports Address newspaper.

The bureau concluded that the Trøndelag police district did not follow the arrest instructions regarding who made the decision regarding the body search.

– There is also a lack of fame regarding the decisions made and the reasons for them. This is unfortunate and reprehensible, but not the same as a crime. However, circumstances gave reason for the case to be forwarded to the police district for administrative review, the summary stated.

None of the four people who reported police to the Bureau wished to comment on the shutdown for the time being.

The chief of police at the Trondheim police station, Arve Nordtvedt, said management was self-critical for “not making the arrest instructions sufficiently known to their employees”.

– After this incident, we ourselves determined that the instructions were not followed. We then sent letters with clarifications to all those who put people in detention, about which rules apply to visits and detentions, he told the newspaper.
