from the embassy from England We were informed that the UK government has announced a new customs model (Border Target Operating Model) which introduces new controls essential to maintaining security in the UK.
This new model takes an innovative approach to customs control, using advanced technology to simplify trading for companies. This new system reduces the administrative burden and costs associated with importing/exporting products to the UK.
The new customs model will be implemented progressively on the following dates:
January 31, 2024 – Implementation of health certification for imports of animal products, plants, medium-risk vegetable products and high-risk non-animal food and feed from the EU. The prior notification requirement for low-risk plant and plant products from the EU was removed.
April 30, 2024 – Introduction of physical controls and documentation required for animal products, plants, medium-risk vegetable products and high-risk food and feed of non-animal origin from the EU.
Likewise, existing EU inspections of high-risk plant/crop products will move from the destination to the Border Control Post (PIF).
October 31, 2024 – Obligation to submit relevant summary declarations for imports into the UK from the EU.
