Compared with August 2019, before the pandemic had a major impact on the aviation sector, registrations increased by 11% in passenger movements and 3.2% in cargo. INE reports that “since the beginning of 2023, a historical maximum has been recorded in the value of passenger messages at airports nationwide”, meaning that, in August, “an average daily decline of 112,900 passengers was recorded, a value higher than that recorded in in August 2022 (99,400; +13.5%) and 11.5% above verified in August 2019 (101,300).

Between January and August 2023, passenger numbers increased by 23.1% compared to the same period in 2022, while cargo and mail movements decreased (-2.4%).

In the same period in 2019, we recorded an increase of 11.7% in goods transportation and 7.6% in goods and postal transportation. Considering the volume of passengers disembarking and boarding international flights in August, the UK was the main origin and destination country for both flights, with an increase of 19.4% in the number of disembarking passengers and 20.2% in the number of passengers dispatched. , facing the same period in 2022.

France takes second place, with an increase of 20.9% and 21.4%, in the same order, after Spain, with a significant increase in the same period in 2022 (+40.5% as the home country of both countries). Country of destination).
