Uncertain conditions will continue in the coming days, but the weather will stabilize in the second half of the week, especially to the south.

Until then, strong winds from Storm Fergus will bring the risk of coastal gales on Sunday evening, especially in western Ireland and Wales.

The rain will be concentrated across the UK, with some major, prolonged and possibly stormy flooding, and further local flooding possible.

A rain warning was issued from the Met Office.

The rain will mostly fall eastwards overnight, but the north east of Scotland will remain quite wet.

The weather will be cool in the windy south, where coastal winds will be calmer, but will remain cool in the calmer north. Ice areas are also possible there.

Monday morning will be mostly dry, with sunny spells, but there will be a few showers nearby.

Northern Ireland, northwest England and parts of Scotland appear to be most at risk.

Winds will generally ease, but southwest Ireland will be windy and wet by lunchtime.

The rain will spread across Ireland as winds increase on Monday afternoon, and then reach Northern Ireland.

Most of the UK will remain fine and dry, but the rain will have a greater impact on the north-east.

Rain will fall on Tuesday, then be confined to eastern Scotland.

Additional localized flooding is possible.

Sunnier conditions and showers will follow.

The weather is generally cool and breezy, with strong coastal winds.

England and Wales are expected to experience heavy rain and strong winds on Wednesday, but most of the rest of the country will be fine and dry.

The rest of the week will be generally calmer.
