Valencia sticks to the contract with Cazoo

Valencia has opted for a position of contractual power with Cazoo. The British car rental company announced a few months ago that it was canceling its expansion policy outside the UK and this meant canceling its sponsorship. Cazoo offered affected clubs to pay an amount appropriate to the current season and sever all future ties. But Valencia, unlike the others who accept, has refused for now.

In Spain, Real Sociedad, Baskonia and Valencia wear the Cazoo logo on the front of their shirts, as do Olympique de Marseille, Freiburg and Bologna. Cazoo has fulfilled the signed agreements for the 2022/23 season with all of them. However, in exchange for making appropriate disbursements, companies ask to cancel contracts that have a longer validity period. So, Real Sociedad accepted, but Valencia did not, with some fear that this would imply a delay in payment of what had been agreed for this year or even a lawsuit. But that didn’t happen. Cazoo, according to club sources, has met sponsorship payments this year.

Valencia, now, is retaining the contract signed in 2022 for two seasons plus an optional third season. Sponsors report to Valencia a figure of around 4 million per year. So though Valencia is testing another company that will likely display their logo on the black and white shirt, Until now, Cazoo will still be present in the Mestalla shirt next season, considering that the contract between the two parties is still valid and Cazoo’s expansive change in policy does not mean not fulfilling his commitment.

Valencia, barring finding a new sponsor, sticks to what was signed with Cazoo before emptying his shirt or accepted a much lower proposal than the 4 million he had under the contract. In this regard, Puma, Valencia’s official sports brand, is working on a kit for the next campaign, playing on the design with the Cazoo logo.

Valencia, regarding Puma, have started negotiations to extend their agreement beyond 2024. The German company has one more year of contract with Valencia, although the two companies have already started contacts to extend the agreement. It should be remembered that kits for one season are designed at the end of the previous year, In other words, Puma’s design team has practically completed Valencia’s kit for the 2024/25 season in November 2023. Hence, now is the time when the contract must be renewed. Puma isn’t the only sports brand interested in dressing Valencia.
