War in Ukraine: Ukrainian man offers to pull enemy tanks to Russia after running out of fuel

A Ukrainian man has filmed himself offering to tow an enemy tank back to Russia after seeing the assault vehicle appear to have stopped in the middle of the highway.

The latest in a series of viral videos from Ukraine bravely standing before Russian troops shows the driver stopping next to a stationary military vehicle and asking several soldiers from his open window if the vehicle broke down.

When they told him they were out of fuel, the driver made the soldiers laugh by asking, “Can I pull you back to Russia?”

According to a translation on social media, he later told the soldiers they were on their way to Kyiv after they failed to tell him where to go.

When the soldiers inquired about the invasion, he told them that Ukraine won the war while Moscow’s troops were good at surrendering because “they don’t know where they’re going either.”

In farewell, the Ukrainian side claimed to have requested “a whole column” of Russian vehicles speeding towards the capital, but “no one knows where they are or where they are going.” Footage shows it driving past another stationary tank within 30 seconds.

This is not the only report that Moscow tanks are running out of fuel as Vladimir Putin’s invasion of sovereign neighbor Russia reaches its third day, with a British government minister among them suggesting the Kremlin’s plans are “far from meeting schedule” amid a strong Ukraine. resistance.

A Ukrainian army Facebook account claimed on Friday that Russian troops stopped near Konotop, northeast of Kyiv, because they had “problems with fuel and supplies”, alleging that some of the assault soldiers were walking with gas cylinders “trying to buy fuel” and etc. “demand food from the locals” while businesses have been looted.

“The main armored column approaching Kyiv is still far away. It is a testament to the extraordinary resistance that the Ukrainian armed forces have put up over the past 48 hours,” British Armed Forces Secretary James Heappey told Sky News on Saturday.

“Obviously, Russia’s plan is to seize Kyiv, but the reality so far has frustrated them. It seems that Russia’s plans are far from meeting schedule.”

“I think that would be of great concern to President Putin and more of a sign of the fact that there is a lot of arrogance in Russia’s plans and that might be suggested outright.”

Fighting escalated overnight in the Ukrainian capital as attempts by small Russian groups to infiltrate the city sparked street clashes as Moscow forces continued to advance into Kyiv from various directions.

But Britain’s Ministry of Defense said on Saturday that Russia’s pace of progress had “temporarily slowed down, possibly as a result of severe logistical difficulties and heavy resistance from Ukraine”.

“Russian troops bypassed Ukraine’s main population centers while allowing troops to surround and isolate them,” the ministry said in an intelligence update.

“The night clashes in Kyiv likely involved a number of predetermined Russian sabotage groups. The capture of Kyiv remains Russia’s main military objective.”
