Norwegians across the country have recently had a new sun and warmth, but now it’s coming to an end, at least for a little while.

– It’s about enjoying the day, says the meteorologist on duty at Ingvild Villa.

He said that today would also be nice weather, but the cold would end tonight’s summer mood.

– It was pretty good at the weekend, and will be pretty good today, but then the vanguard will come from the eastern mountains. It is possible to bring precipitation in the form of downpours and perhaps also lightning and thunder. Besides, it will be slightly cooler.

Short term bad weather in the south

Villa reports that the bad weather will thankfully be short-lived, at least in the south.

– The country is far away and has a lot to offer, but it is rumored that it will be nice in the south in the end.

At the weekend, people from the south and east are expected to return to shorts and summer dresses.

– Once the front passes tomorrow, the weather should be fine for some time to come. Then the temperature will rise a little more and maybe get closer to the same temperature as on the weekend.

Such weather changes are usually seasonal, according to Villa.

– Usually when the front comes in you will see a difference in temperature on the front and back of the front. We are used to rapidly changing weather.

More rainfall in the west

Villa said that West Norway would feel the rain first.

– It will be fine in West Norway today, but they will be hit head-on by the front that will hit East Norway tonight. Rogaland will also receive heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunder tonight. For the rest of Western Norway, there will mostly be rainfall.

But Tuesday sadly isn’t the only rainy day this week for westerners.

– In contrast to østafjell, this precipitation will not be this weekend, as a new low pressure will come on Wednesday. This means that most of the west coast of Norway will receive rainfall.

Fortunately, the rain will sometimes stop.

– There will be quite a bit of downtime in between, so it’s not just gray all through the start of the week. But they will probably have the best day today.

The big temperature difference in the north

In Northern Norway, the weather will be fine after the clouds clear.

– The day will be very joyful in almost all of Northern Norway. There are still some places with low cloud cover, but it looks like it will be sunny during the day and we can get quite high temperatures, said Villa.

But then the temperature on the scales will drop.

– Then there will be a change in weather that will start tonight in Nordland, and then will spread north towards Tromsø. Outside of Tuesday, it will enter Finnmark and this will cause a pretty sharp drop in temperature.

Villa believes that some northerners may experience a bit of a temperature shock tomorrow.

– There are some places that might see twenty degrees today and will be close to ten degrees tomorrow. So it’s going to be a bit of a contrast to wake up today, versus tomorrow.
