Who is the CEO behind TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Twitch?

In the modern world, social networks have become an integral part of our lives, connecting people from all over the world and providing a platform for sharing ideas, experiences and content. Behind great platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Twitch lie visionary CEOs and leaders who drive their success and evolution.

Each of these platforms fulfills a specific purpose, be it watching videos, sharing photos, expressing emotions, connecting with other entrepreneurs or broadcasting live content. It is for this reason that the CEOs of TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Twitch have different profiles that define them, and here we present them to you:

TikTok: Shou Zi Chew

He was born in Singapore and graduated from University College London (UK) in Economics before joining Harvard Business School, where he completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA). Upon completion, he interned at Facebook, and then started working at investment firm DST.

Zi Chew also worked at Xiaomi company where he was finance director and president of international business. In March 2021, he joined ByteDance, becoming the media giant’s first CFO position.

Just two months later, he took over as CEO of TikTok, following the abrupt resignation of his predecessor Kevin Mayer, amid the Trump administration’s attempts to force a sale of the social network’s US assets.

Instagram: Adam Mosseri

Since 2018 Adam Mosseri has worked as the CEO of Instagram, but since 2008 he has been part of the Meta company, as he serves as an information designer. Mosseri graduated with a Media and Information Design degree from New York University in 2005 and in 2006 began teaching at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Once at Facebook, the man worked as the company’s design director for mobile apps and then moved into product management, where he led the News Feed engineering and product teams for many years. His valuable contributions have made him one of the CEOs of the most important social networks in the world such as TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Twitch.

Twitter: Linda Yaccarino

In early 2023 Elon Musk announced that Linda Yaccarino would be the new CEO Twitter. In his announcement, the millionaire reported that Yaccarino will focus primarily on the commercial operation of the platform, while Musk will focus on product design and new technologies.

This woman has a background in Liberal Arts and Telecommunications from Penn State University (1981-1985). Additionally, for nearly 20 years he worked as the Executive Vice President of Turner (formerly known as Turner Broadcasting Systems), an American mass media company.

He later worked at NBCUniversal where he served as President of Cable Entertainment Sales & Digital Advertising; Head of Advertising & Client Partnerships; and Head of Advertising & Global Partnerships.

LinkedIn: Ryan Roslansky

LinkedIn is a social network designed specifically for entrepreneurs, so unlike the CEOs of TikTok, Instagram, Twitter or Twitch, the president of this social network has a different playing field. Roslansky is an American technology executive and currently the CEO of LinkedIn, taking up the role in June 2020.

Prior to becoming CEO, he held various positions within the company, including Senior Vice President of Products and Vice President of Marketing. The entrepreneur joined LinkedIn in 2009 as VP of Corporate Business Development and Strategy and has played a key role in the platform’s growth since then.

Roslansky studied Business Administration at the University of Pennsylvania and is a co-founder of Housing Media. Additionally, prior to joining LinkedIn, he held senior positions at Adobe, Systems, and Yahoo; as well as NASA, Google and Nextdoor.

Twitch: Dan Clancy

Clancy has a BA in Computer Science and Theater from Duke University and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Texas at Austin. Throughout his career, the entrepreneur has worked at NASA in various key positions in various departments of the agency.

In 2005, he joined Google, where he worked on international search quality, then became chief engineer, then chief engineer for Google Book Search. In 2008 Clancy became Head of Engineering at Google Search Properties along with Jen Fitzpatrick.

Years later, he’s overseeing the engineering and product leadership divisions at YouTube, again focusing on search and infrastructure. He left Google in 2014 and joined social network Nextdoor as vice president of product and engineering.

Finally, in 2019, Clancy joined Twitch, initially as VP of Experience and Creator Community, reporting to CEO Emmett Shear.

However, in 2023, he takes the position of CEO of the company after Emmett Shear announces that he is stepping down after 16 years with the company.
