Cars ended up in the sea at the ferry landing – one was taken from the water

A car was stranded at sea on a ferry that landed in the municipality of Kvinnherad in Sunnhordland in Vestland. The police stated that only the car driver was observed in the vehicle.

– Divers have freed one person. The person had been brought to the surface and was on his way to land. The extent of the damage is unknown, police wrote.

Minutes later, they stated that the man had been brought ashore. Life-saving first aid was given on the spot.

– Divers were in the water and began to rescue what appeared to be one person, police wrote at 3.33pm.

– We got the guy out of the car. We moved with the SAR Queen helicopter from Sola. Two divers from Haugesund and divers from Bergen were also on site, Svein Nesse told TV 2 of the fire service.

Photos from the scene showed a car had been lifted from the fjord after the crash.

The car must have been at a depth of 10-15 meters beyond the foot of the ferry.

It was about five miles from Haugesund to the ferry pier where the accident occurred.

In the first report to the police, it stated that the car drove into the ferry terminal, where it ended up in the sea.

Police say they have launched a rescue mission. Police were notified of the incident at 2:38 p.m., and emergency services arrived on the scene at 3:17 p.m.
