Märtha Louise will miss London – NRK Culture and entertainment

Although Princess Märtha Louise has had few public duties during her stay in London, today she chose to visit YWCA Norway’s home in London’s best west end, Holland Park. The embassy area is famous, and also the neighborhood of soccer star David Beckham and his family.

The royal family has many ties to its household. Princess Astrid was the main patron of the house, and Queen Maud supported the house financially from its founding in 1908 until her death in 1938.

Can’t wait to move house

It had only been a few days since it became known that the family would be moving house, and it became a mission as questions became more about the upcoming move than the visit itself.

When NRK asked why the family had now chosen to end its two-year stay, the daughter answered as follows:

– Now I think we should talk a little about the YWCA house…. But, it’s been a pleasure to be here, and it’s been a pleasure to be in London for all the years we’ve been here. But now we feel that Norway is starting to take a little action. I’m also really looking forward to moving house. It’s great to be here, the children can speak English. We’ve had a taste of British life, but it would be nice to be back home too.

All three children had attended the Anthroposophical Steiner School in London, and there would be little change in the area when they got Norwegian postal addresses again.

– The kids started at Steinerskolen, and I continued to work both officially and in my business, and Ari continued to write and paint, and do the things he did. “We’re just continuing what we’ve been doing all along,” he said.

Anonymous life is over

For two years, the family lived in the Islington district, located in central London. A district that houses and hosted many famous British cultural figures and politicians. Among them are Mayor Boris Johnson, former Prime Minister Tony Blair, musician Cat Stevens, now known as Yusuf Islam, actor Emma Watson and writers Salman Rushdie and Douglas Adams, known for the cult novel “The Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”.

The princess said that her family really appreciates the area, apart from being able to live an anonymous life.

– I will miss the people I met. It’s great to get to know the area of London where we live, in Islington. Fantastic as a family area, with lots of parks and a good social life. It’s nice to be a little incognito, so maybe we’ll miss it a bit.

Therefore, the difference is huge between the dynamic life of London and the rural life of Lommedalen, but the youngest daughter is looking forward to it:

– Maud said “It’s great to be in London, but nature is also very beautiful”, she said. “There are so many wonderful sounds in nature.” So they look forward to it.

A little more life in London was enough for them before they returned home. At the weekend, May 17 celebrations await with hundreds of other Londoners.

Last year the princess gave a speech at the event, this year the family will simply celebrate Constitution Day like everyone else – although they will probably get more attention, regardless of whether they are in London.
