About Masters

Teacher is a professional snooker tournament played in London.

Although not a ranking tournament, it is considered one of snooker’s most prestigious tournaments. This is partly because of the high prize money, with only WC having a higher prize, and partly because the tournament brings together the best players.

This tournament was first held in 1975 and then ten players were invited. Later, the tournament will consist of sixteen of the best world ranking players, as well as two specially invited players.

In 2007, Ding Junhui and Jimmy White were invited, in addition Stuart Bingham won the qualifying tournament and earned a place in the Masters. In 2008, Marco Fu was invited, while Barry Hawkins won the qualifying tournament. In 2009, Ricky Walden was invited, while Judd Trump won the qualifying tournament.

Ronnie O’Sullivan is the player with the most Masters wins of all time with 7 titles. In the history of the tournament, there have been three maximum breaks, Kirk Stevens against Jimmy White in 1984, Ding Junhui against Anthony Hamilton in 2007 and Marco Fu against Stuart Bingham in 2015.

Due to various sponsors, the tournament has changed names several times, but is usually referred to as the Masters.
