On Wednesday, the Bergen City Council will most likely opt for a light rail route over Bryggen.

This may end one of the biggest arguments in Norway’s second largest city, but opponents refuse to give up.

On Wednesday, several dozen protesters gathered near the city council hall in Bergen.

– It’s sad, but at the same time I don’t think the final period has been set. There’s a lot left unsaid, and a lot that hasn’t been accounted for, said the manager Bergen PoliceAnn Jorun Hillersøy.

Among other things, he referred to the fact that the majority of Bergen residents said they did not want a light rail over Bryggen. An alternative is to lay a route in a tunnel through the city center.

– Here are new chapters to complete, and we never give up! he says.

Asgeir Eide-Olsen also appeared in a T-shirt that read “I don’t underestimate myself!”. The expression refers to someone who will not agree to a proposal from another party.

– Bergen deserves the light rail solution to Åsane that the majority want, namely in the tunnel, he said.

The city council meeting starts at 12.00, but the decision is not expected until later this afternoon.
