Coronation in the UK – Here’s the meaning behind Princess Charlotte and Princess Kate’s matching flower crowns

LOn Wednesday, the stage was set for the coronation of King Charles (74) and Queen Camilla (75) at Westminster Abbey in London.

Present at this historic moment were royals from all over the world. Of course, Princess Kate and Prince William and their three children were also in attendance.

The Princess of Wales blew everyone away wearing Alexander McQueen. She has a special relationship with the British luxury brand led by designer Sarah Burton, who also designed her wedding gown when she married Prince William in 2011.

Princess Charlotte’s outfit also came from Alexander McQueen, and the flower crown she wore matched mother Kate’s.

The eight-year-old wore a simple white dress from the British luxury brand embroidered with motifs of roses, thistles, daffodils and clover – England’s four national flowers.

The flower crown was created by Jess Collett and Alexander McQueen, and not surprisingly, there’s a deeper meaning behind it.

The design refers to a motif repeated several times during the coronation, namely the “Green Man”, a figure from English folklore who symbolizes spring and rebirth. She wears a crown of oak, ivy, hawthorn and symbolic flowers on her crown.
