London, 29 Dec (EFE).- The holding of the Women’s European Championships in July and the Commonwealth Games between July and August and the diplomatic boycott decided at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics will be Britain’s main sporting challenges of the year next.
WOMEN’S EURO CUP 2022
The final phase of the Women’s Euro Cup will be played this year in England, starting on 6 July, with the final scheduled at Wembley Stadium on 31 July.
Spain are in Group B, along with Germany, Denmark and Finland, while England, Netherlands and France led the other three groups in the first round.
HOUSING GAMES
Between July and August, the English city of Birmingham will host the Commonwealth Games, a multi-sport event in which countries from the Anglosphere participate, similar to the Pan-American Games and the Mediterranean Games.
Queen Elizabeth II, head of the Commonwealth of Nations, looks forward to welcoming participants from 54 member states, including Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
BEIJING GAME BOYCOTT
Britain will support a diplomatic boycott of the Winter Olympics, which open in Beijing next February in protest against human rights abuses in China.
The UK government will not send an official representative to the competition, although it will allow athletes to participate in the Olympics.
