Among those who criticized the decision to remove was comedian John Cleese, who played the lead role in the episode. In a twitter message he wrote that there are two ways to make fun of human behavior.

– One of them is to attack directly. The second is to put in clearly funny characters to maintain the same behavior, Cleese wrote.

The “special class hotel”, called “Fawlty Towers” in the original, was last year named the best British commissioner of all time.

In the current episode, which is the last in season one, a German family visits the Fawlty Towers hotel in Torquay, and hotel owner Basil (Cleese) literally spirals out of control in his quest not to mention World War II and get another one. employees to refrain from “mentioning war”. At the same time, the script is loaded with politically incorrect language.

The episode also includes a scene where Basil Fawlty is apparently shocked to be hospitalized by a black doctor.
