Launched a new TV channel in Norway and Europe

CNN has now launched CNN Fast, a free and ad-supported streaming TV channel (FAST) that offers a new, fast way to watch CNN content.

The CNN Fast channel broadcasts international news in a short format, and covers major news, business, entertainment, sports and climate events.

The channel has now launched on Rakuten TV in several European countries, including Norway. CNN Fast will also be available on LG Channels starting May 24, and will also be available on Samsung TV Plus in June.

Through dynamic programming with short, informative and entertaining videos, the new channel is designed to appeal to a younger audience who prefer news delivered in a shorter and faster format.

With stories told via three to six minute clips, this new, concise and easy-to-digest format will keep audiences updated and engaged. CNN Fast also offers more opportunities for its partners through new ad formats and targeting options.

The launch of the new channel builds on the work CNN has done in the Connected TV (CTV) space with Rakuten TV, LG Channels and Samsung TV Plus, where the aim is to expand the ways people can watch CNN content.

– CNN Fast offers a new and different user experience to CNN’s main channel. By working with established partners on the CTV platform, where we have done well with CNN content, we are now able to connect with more viewers and households through the devices and formats they love and use. It’s an engaging approach that gives viewers a new way to experience the journalism and storytelling CNN is renowned for, said Humphrey Black, Head of Distribution Strategy at CNN International Commercial.

Content on CNN Fast is delivered by CNN journalists and curated for the channel using cloud-based streaming solution provider Amagi’s technology. Meara Erdozain, Senior Vice President of Programming at CNN International, is editorially in charge of what appears on screen.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase some of CNN’s best content to a wider audience, and to offer different genres and stories in a fast-paced storytelling style that’s adapted to a younger and broader demographic,” said Meara Erdozain, Senior Vice President of Programming at CNN International.

CNN Fast is available in the following countries: Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. This channel will be available in more countries and platforms over the coming year. This is based on the current FAST offering in the US, available on Samsung TV Plus and Pluto TV.
