More than 3,600 migrants arrived by sea in the UK in July

3,683 people arrived on 90 boats during 20 of the 31 days in July, according to an analysis by the news agency PA statistics.

Monday’s figures were presented at the same time as it was reported that the government may announce a new multimillion-dollar agreement with France to stop the flow of refugees and migrants.

Interior Minister Priti Patel will pay the French government tens of millions of pounds to increase patrols along the coast and surveillance equipment, according to The Times newspaper.

More than three months have passed since Patel devised a plan to send asylum seekers across the English Channel to Rwanda. The plan has drawn strong criticism from the United Nations, among others, and legal problems that have been hampering the deportation of asylum seekers to the African country.

Since April, more than 11,131 migrants and refugees have crossed the Strait. On Monday, an estimated several hundred people, among them small children, were brought ashore in the British port city of Ramsgate.
