A new minister and outgoing ambassador review the latest details of the cooperation that lies ahead

Peru’s economy minister, Oscar Graham, and Britain’s ambassador in Lima, Kate Harrisson, met on Monday to coordinate next joint projects, such as Reconstruction with Change and Bicentennial Schools, it was reported.

“Knowledge transfer is highlighted through the UK government’s participation in projects with a Government-to-Government (G2G) modality, as well as the installation of the Infrastructure Table as a space for bilateral coordination,” Peruvian authorities said in a statement. release.

Oscar Miguel Graham Yamahuchi has been Finance Minister since February 2022, having replaced Pedro Francke in a series of ministerial changes that affected the government of President Pedro Castillo Terrones.

Prior to his promotion, Graham worked at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) as Director General of Financial Markets and Private Pensions. Graham studied Economics Engineering at the National University of Engineering (UNI), has a master’s degree in Economics from Queen Mary University of London (UK), in addition to postgraduate courses at San Ignacio de Loyola University and Harvard Business School.

On the ministry’s website, his resume states “Master’s Degree in Economics with extensive experience at the highest level in the design and implementation of policies for the development of financial markets, pension systems, promotion of financial inclusion and productive development.”

Among other highlights of his professional career, Graham has worked for nearly five years at the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) and has been a professor at the universities of San Ignacio de Loyola and Esan.

During Monday’s meeting, Graham also praised Harrison’s work for the high spirit of collaboration in achieving the two countries’ common goals. The diplomat will complete his mandate as Ambassador to Peru.

Gavin Douglas Cook OBE has been appointed to replace Harrison as His Excellency Ambassador to the Republic of Peru. He will take over his position during April 2022.
