Mexico, with a great geographic location for transferring business: Jon Benjamin

Because Mexico has a privileged geographical location, it is an ideal country for foreign companies to transfer their business processes to reduce nearshoring costs, said the British ambassador to Mexico, Jon Benjamín.

Another attribute of corporate value that gives Mexico a great business opportunity is its proximity to the United States and its advanced workforce, the diplomat explained.

He said that currently more than 80 percent of machinery and technology is imported into Mexico from other countries, “and from the UK we want to collaborate on sustainable manufacturing.”

Jon Benjamín, who is a huge football fan, spoke thus before his visit to the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, where he will be present to participate in the 2022 Manufacturing Exhibition, from 15 to 17 February 2022 at Cintermex.

This is Ambassador Jon Benjamin’s second visit to Monterrey.

Eight UK companies and two UK organizations of state-of-the-art sustainable engineering, specializing in sustainable manufacturing technologies, will participate in the Expo.

BioCote, 360 Materials, AESSEAL Mexico, Pymatek Automation, Unison Ltd, Renishaw Mexico, GSF Sliding Systems and TR Fastenings, as well as organizations such as Midlands Engine and Northern Powerhouse will be present at the British Consulate Section in Monterrey, Commercial Section (DIT ), of the British Pavilion .

Mexico has earned a place in Nearshoring because of the impact on the trade relations between the United States and China and today finds itself in a very favorable scenario for more companies to adopt Nearshoring and come to our country.

The UK manufacturer is now leading the UK’s green recovery for a sustainable future with the UK goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

They are also committed to moving forward with concrete actions in their manufacturing processes, combining clean technology production and sustainable products and services, the diplomatic headquarters detailed.

The signing of the Agreement between the United States, Mexico and Canada in July 2020 further consolidates its potential, providing duty-free access to important opportunities for supply chains in Mexico, including the import of manufacturing technology, machinery and clean technology.

In December 2020, the UK and Mexico signed a trade agreement guaranteeing the benefits of the EU-Mexico trade agreement starting January 1, 2021.

The two countries are also committed to negotiating a new trade agreement by 2022, reflecting the opportunities that exist between the two countries.
